The component of cat bond pricing covering transaction costs, including structuring, legal, modelling, and ongoing administration fees.

Example

How it works in practice

A cat bond pays a total coupon of SOFR plus 7%. Of that 7% spread, 0.75% goes toward transaction expenses: catastrophe modelling fees, legal costs for setting up the SPV, rating agency fees, and ongoing trustee and administration charges. The remaining 6.25% is the risk premium that compensates investors for bearing the catastrophe exposure.
