Lecture 3

Roadshow

The marketing process where the sponsor and structuring bank present a new cat bond transaction to potential investors.

How it works in practice

Two weeks before a cat bond is priced, the sponsor and structuring agent present to investors in London, Zurich, New York, and Bermuda. At each meeting, they walk through the catastrophe model results, explain the trigger mechanics, and answer questions about the sponsor's exposure data. Investor feedback during the roadshow helps the structuring agent gauge demand and set the final coupon.
